After 3 years of online study, I have now completed the 8 units required for the Diploma of Family History at the University of Tasmania. Here is my final essay as part of the Families at War unit.

Open in new tab My feedback included that I had not used enough scholarly secondary sources, that a thesis statement was not mentioned and there were some errors with the footnotes. I agree with most of the feedback. I received a score of 30/50 giving me an overall score of 74/100 for the whole unit including the quizzes.
I would like to thank all those students who have been on this journey with me over the last three years and hopefully I will meet you in person at the August or December graduation in Hobart.
Great Sue, fancy your soldier from Tassie being in the same Machine Gun Company as mine from WA, mine was transferred it seems with his entire group, or what was left of the 13th MGC.
Sue it was interesting reading your bio on William as his experiences were so different from my soldier. You obviously had better records of his war efforts than I could find. It was such a horrific couple of years for all concerned, both on the frontlines and at home. I too, had difficulty with footnotes and scholarly articles, but those provided generally did not relate too much to my soldier’s service.
