    • Hi Marilyn,
Your great grandmother Rosetta and my great great grandmother Sarah Ann TEDMAN were sisters and married on the same day in the same church. Jose Domingo Evorall was often on the same whaling ships as Sarah’s husband William SMITH who i am researching at the moment.

      • Thanks for the reply – I look forward to hearing about your research – have you seen the grave sites at Cockle Creek?

        • My parents, brother and I spent a day cleaning up the grave area a year or so ago. We also tried to work out who the other graves are for within the fenced area. Apparently they could be the two young boys who died in 1885 – Thomas Alexander SMITH and William Demingo SMITH.

    • Thanks for listening and leaving a comment Pat. If ever you need help starting a blog for your family history, feel free to contact me. My email is on one of the widgets on the sidebar under my picture.

  2. Thank you so very much Suzanne for the excellent rundown on blogging!
I had no idea how it was done but am now fired up and ready to go!

  3. I read quite a few of your writings and love the way you do it. I have enrolled in the Introduction to Family History class and that’s how I came to see this. I am looking forward to learning how to improve my skills. One day I may have 40 years experience too but you will have more by then. Thank you.

    • I think you are in my beginner’s group. We all started somewhere with our research and it has certainly changed over the last 40 years with everything now being digitized.

  4. Hello Sue,
Thank you so much for the photos of the headstones of Mary Ann Swain Tedman & William Tedman. Over the years, I have wondered why they were not interred together; I had only photos of each individual headstone. Love your work & supporting details.
I wrote to you many years ago, when I lived in Canada, sending you background information on Mary Ann; I descent through the Swain line, Maidstone, Kent. I live in Perth, WA now, and have actually visited Tasmania. Perhaps another trip is on order, to visit the salient places that I have since learned of.
Best Regards and thank you again,
    Nancy Stevens Soroka

    • Hi Nancy,
I remember our email exchanges with information about Mary Ann in Maidstone, Kent. Since having my DNA tested along with my father’s, we have found that William Smith who married Sarah Ann Tedman is not related to us. All that research about people who are not genealogically connected by DNA even though they are on paper trails from oral history in the family. Great to hear from you again and get in contact if ever you visit Tassie again as a trip down to Catamaran is great for a day from Hobart.
