I’ve decided to take part in Thomas MacEntee’s Genealogy Do Over for 2016. At the moment I have research and notes on my desktop computer as well as the iPad and my laptop. I need something that will sync on all three devices. So I downloaded
Evernote
Now I need to research the best way to use it for genealogy. This might be part of the Do Over course so will wait until next year (3 days haha) to look into how to create notebooks and pages etc. I have used something similar when teaching – OneNote. I am sure they will work in the same way.
I googled Evernote for genealogy and these are some websites and blogposts that look good.
- Cyndi’s List is always a great place to start including the templates and her part 2 post
- Colleen Greene blogposts – US librarian and genealogist – quick look and I straight away got idea of less notebooks the better
- Legacy family tree has webinars on the topic – have to join though – thinking of using Legacy now my old software is no longer being updated
- Lisa Louise Cooke‘s website has thousands of genealogy gems
- Even a Pinterest board for genealogy using evernote
- Australia’s Gould Genealogy has their own posts
- Evernote has step by step guides
- A template for Australian research checklist for whatever device you use
- Digital storage by Australian genealogist Carole Riley includes Evernote
